Unscrupulous Business Practices

Springleaf Financial contacted me via a letter with an offer for a loan. I completed the loan application over online and I was notified that the loan was approved. When I contacted Springleaf to follow up. The representative took all of my information leading me to believe that I was being process for the loan based on being notified that I was approved. After fishing me for this loan, taking up my good time, and leading me to believe that I was approved; I was informed that because I did not have an automobile to secure the loan; they took back their word that I was approved. It is nothing for this company to waste peoples time. To anyone looking to get a loan from Springleaf look somewhere else they are predators looking for prey.

I am so familiar with your situation, however we took the loan missed 1 payment and then spouse was off work made acceptable payment arrangements with them and then were back to work making payments but not good enough for them.when i drove the 35 miles to the location to where our loan originated, their was nothing there it was an empty office.so called and they said mail it i said this wasnt acceptable they started getting nasty so i simply hung up,they kept on saying theyd come get the collateral if not pd current by this date i welcomed them as i said come take it before it rusts into the ground.these threats occured even during the time my spouse was recouvering from a near fatal motorcycle accident having been hit by a drunk driver, buying the employment disability insurance does notprotect anything but their profits.dont buy it.BIGGEST MISTAKE THE COMPANY WHO TOOK OVER THEIR PHONE LINES IN THAT OFFICE DID TO BENEFIT US WAS SAY THAT THEY MAINTAINED SOME OF THE ACCOUNTS AND OTHERS WERE SENT OUT.OUT WHERE I SAID BECAUSE I HAVE READ ONLINE THE FED.GOV.SHUT THEM DOWN CAUSE OF THE WAY OF THEIR BUISNESS PRACTICES. YOU CANT DIVIDE A BUISNESS THAT IS ORDERED TO SHUT DOWN AND SHIP THEIR FILES HETE AND THERE AND THINK ITS OK.AN ATTORNEY IS LOOKING INTO THE ENTIRE SAGA...MORE TO COME LATER

Scam

I received an email saying my loan has been approved..funny thing is Ive never even heard of these people much less apply for a loan.i relied back to them to let them know I did not apply for a loan with then and that better not loan anyone money using my name. They will hear from my attorney if they do. I am so tired of the scams from these loan companies. I get these type of emails every other day. These people don't even give you an option to unsubscribe to their mailing list. If I want to take out a loan I sure wouldn't use companies like this ine

I just wanted to make someone aware of the fact that there are scammers using Springleaf Financial logo. I received an e-mail as well.

The phone number they gave me to call is 347-967-****, which I believe is a cell phone number. I called the number, the representative could barely speak English, however, stated his name was Gregory Carter. He knew all of my information, my name my DOB, where I worked, ect. He explained the terms and conditions of the loan, stating that they would debit $221 from my account today and then I will receive the loan tomorrow.

I told him several times I was not interested and to please discard my information. After the call, he begin to text me, saying they will only debit $150 from my account today if I want to get the loan.

I plan to report this to the Credit Bureau ASAP. They really need to be stopped.

This place is a joke. My mom had a car wreck and I was trying to help her out so I applied online for 4000 dollar loan and was approved. I called the springleaf in Sapulpa and sent them my check stubs and my 2015 w-2. I made 92000 dollars in 2015 and was told I could not get the loan because they can't calculate the overtime in my salary. I work in refineries doing turnarounds and if everyone don't knows what that is it means I work 84+ hours a week. That's the nature of my job. So now, a day wasted because they would not call me back to tell me that. I had to call 4 times and go up there before I found out.

Springleaf misleading then hurting my credit

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user May 15, 2016

I didn't know loan sharing was legal but apparently it's part of this companies practice. I got a completely different result from Eagle Financial so I know what a company can do.

This company is an example of why you shouldn't contact a creditor.

This loan was sold to me with the idea of rebuilding credit. Instead they worked to hurt my credit.

Original review May 14, 2016
They lead me to believe that they were a way to rebuild my credit. I took out a loans with them and Eagle Finance to do so. I ran into job issues which caused financial hardship. I called both companies to set up temporary payment arrangements. Eagle had me come in with my financial information and started me on a 90 day plan. I wound up paying the loan off and my account is listed in good standing. Springleaf would not negotiate without $500 which I didn't have and then promptly sent to to a predatory debt collector who got a summary judgement against me. I called the debt collector to again try to set up a payment schedule I could afford. He knew he had the upper hand and set a payment plan I told him I couldn't afford. Recently I have been trying to clean up my credit and Springleaf was showing as being written off on my credit bureau. I called the number for Springleaf on the bureau attempting to set up a payment plan to make good on the loan. She transferred me to someone both of them leaving me to believe it was Springleaf instead it being the collection agency. He told me not to call him but he would call me back. Instead he garnisheed my wages from my new employer for 25% of my income. I called to find out what was going on and they were abusive and accusing me of things I didn't do. The name of this firm is Bleecker Brodey and Andrews. Not only have I been mislead from the beginning but mislead and taken advantage of everytime I tried to make good on my loan. They also did not disclose all the information on interest and told me the insurance was free until I found out what I was paying for it and canceled it. I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has issues with either of these companies.

When I called to set up payments to pay off the write off they transferred me to an abusive collection agency and let me think I was still speaking with Springleaf. I have a credit counselor working with me and we called from his office and couldn't get through. I left a message and no one called me back.

They will tell you you're preapproved, take down your information, put 5-6 hard inquiries on your credit report in a few days, and tell you you're denied because you have a derogatory mark on your credit report. I realize my credit is not perfect-that's why I was willing to pay the exorbitant interest rates they offer. In the subsequent months, now that they have made your credit worse, they will continue to harass you with phone calls, emails, and even postcards, again, telling you you're preapproved. Please learn from my mistakes. Don't do it.

I don't need to discuss anything. I've worked extremely hard over the past year to get my credit score raised so I don't have to deal with places like this. This merely serves as a warning to anyone who might not be so lucky.

Great company until when you request the services that you pay for. Such LIARS

So, I have a title loan. Yes, I reliaze it's a high debt to get in to but at the time I had no other choice. Now, I can deal with the payments being $157 a month. The length of time of the loan, is crazy but I figured I would get it paid off before I pay thousands more on what I actually borrowed. Okay so lets get to my complaint! When I was doing my contract and going over the extra insurance that I'm paying for, I was told that if the car was to break down and the cost of repair is more than the what the car is worth or the loan owed, that they would just take the car and we would be at wash on the situation. Okay great, is what I was thinking. Not that I was hoping for needing that service but glad it was being offered. Well, what do you know, the car is broke down with what is to believe major electrical issues. The cost to get it fix is more than what I owe! When I called the office to file the claim and find out exactly what I needed to do, their response "I don't know where you got your information but we don't do such a thing". Like for real??? So, you are saying I pulled this info out of my butt??? Why in the world would I do such a thing? First, I am never late as I'm setup for automatic payments. So the stuff I'm paying extra on my loan is just a joke and them charging bogus insurance!!! Don't go to them. I thought it was great for the first year and half but now they have lied to me and I don't like doing business with people who lie. It's not right and I have already filed a former complaint.

Definitely out of your butt. What kinda insurance pays for auto repairs - auto insurance.

What kinda lender is just gonna "take the car and let that be a wash?" Didn't you say it was broken down in need of repair? Why would they want a broken down car?

Whose responsible for their own property - the owner of the car. ***.

My line of credit with Springleaf is 18% ,and I had it for over 5 years. My problem is the loan is not going down at all.

What I do to get it to go away. My car loan is down faster then is.

Ripping people off,with payoff amounts.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had a loan with my car. 1) Didn't tell me I needed full coverage ,got it.2)Had total losse on car, insurance called for pay off gave one amount and when they payed it ,said I owed more then the pay off . Called they gave me one amount and then they took more out of my account and said I owe more. That is stealing for people. You can't say one thing and do something else. I WOUID NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY? We work hard and they set and tell you one thing and do something different. The interest you pay a month and principal you never will pay it off.$189.00 a month 101.31 interest and $87.89 to principal.

PREDATORY LENDORS - AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Avoid this company like the plague! I borrowed $5k. The interest rate on the surface is reported as 24.50%. However if I carry the loan out through its 4yr term, I will end up paying back (are you ready for this?)....... $11,265.19!!!!!! Do the math. That is a heck of a lot more than 24.50%. Teresa the Springleaf officer "conveniently" neglected to go over that little detail during the paper signing process. As a result, I am going to go on every review site I can find and warn the world about this unscrupulous company. Whatever you do - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! THEY ARE PREDATORS AND YOU WILL END UP REGRETTING GETTING A LOAN WITH THEM!

Springleaf Financial Customer Care Review from Raleigh, North Carolina

I applied for a loan online yesterday. It said, I was approved. I called and Susan stated didn't have enough collateral. So I asked her to let me know how much I would qualify for. I called and she said I been approved for 1500.00 with my car title and she would see me today at 4:30. I take an 1hr off work get there for Susan to tell me she thought she was talking to another customer that name sounds a lot like mind and she was sorry. Once she realize she spoke with the wrong person why didn't she call to let me know before taking off work early and making arrangements for me to take care of some bills. Does she realize what kind of situation she put me in with me taking her of her word. All she could say was I'm sorry!!! What do I say to the other people, call Susan she made the mistake! I thought my head was going to be above water, thanks Springleaf for drowning me!!!! Angelina Alston

I won't do business with them again

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had an account in a different state was a great experience always helpful and polite. I moved back home to Indiana and when I needed a loan I went to them, BIG MISTAKE. I also sent my daughter who was lied to and and disrespected, shes 23 and has one degree working on a second. Back to me, I was off work and could not pay I had the insurance for it but because I was on medical leave not eligible for unemployment they would do anything. Than if I am not even two weeks late they call me >.< at 10pm , I thought they could not do that after 8pm. When I called my branch asking to help I NEVER get called back BUT when I am about 10 days late they call me... I file complaints with corporate but nothing is done I get we will talk to the manager...I have a degree in business and THEY NEED ONE. They have no people skills for this business at my local branch. Do to this last year I will NEVER do business with them again and will tell EVERYONE I know to avoid them as well!

Bad experience

I was approved for a small loan via website. Was told to go to a local SpringLeaf office with verifying paperwork. I went with proper paperwork and was greeted by a very young female who appeared to know nothing about loans. I asked her how she learned about loans and she stated that she knew nothing but all she had to do was answer the questions on the computer. Unfortunately, she did not know how to read a professionally prepared tax return and therefore put into the computer wrong information which resulted in my denial of the requested loan. I felt as if I was dealing with a juvenile.
